On December 7, 2012 I’m organizing a small, 1-day conference on auditory culture in The Netherlands. 20-25 people dealing with sound will gather in a venue in Leiden to discuss sound: philosophers, sound artists, biologists, architects, audiologists, sound designers, psychologists, people from governmental organizations dealing with noise abatement, etc. Aim is to exchange thoughts, to transgress discourses, and to develop a common research strategy.
Fascinating – good idea! Is there a timetable available for the day?
Dear Anthony,
How nice to hear from you. Hope you’re doing well!
At the moment we’re still working on some kind of time table, but it could look somewhat like this:
• 10:30 – 11.00 Registration, coffee, tea, etc.
• 11:00 – 11:15 Welcome and introduction (Marcel Cobussen)
• 11:15 – 13:15 One-slide presentations, 5 min per participant + 5 min reactions
• 13:15 – 14:00 Lunch
• 14:00 – 16:00 One-slide presentations, 5 min per participant + 5 min reactions
• 16:15 – 16:45 Sound Art event (Raviv Ganchrow and Justin Bennett)
• 16:45 – 17:45 ‘Open Space’ (Break-out groups to collect and formulate (concrete) research ideas)
• 17:45 – 18:00 Conclusion (Vincent Meelberg)
• 18:00 – 20:00 Drinks and Dinner
Hi,
A multimedia presentation of that expert meeting on auditory culture is available on http://journal.sonicstudies.org/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=sonic;sid=279c46bce8f07d93d62dbb4396ca444c;view=text;idno=m0501a01;rgn=main
